Chaotic (Óreiða)
Resting place for pilgrims travelling across the Icelandic tectonic plate boundaries
2012, Bachelor Thesis, Architecture
Supervisors:
The buildings are situated in a lava field at , which is the southwestern most point of Iceland, an active volcano area at the top of the tectonic plates. The buildings are merging with lava pillars, where it is unclear whether it is the nature or a man made environment that is in control.
This project is based on a concept that I made around my dream space, an in-between space were nothing is given or controlled. My dream space in this project takes shape in the chaotic that forms when two things are joined together, lava and building and the boundaries between those two things are unclear and uneven.
